Injury prevention by optimal pre-training and pre-match preparation is highly recommended. The FIFA 11+ pre-session program has been shown to reduce the risk of injury in training and during matches. An explanation and demonstration videos from Dr Ross Cairns are available at: Newcastle Sports Medicine .
The FIFA 11+ Kids version for players aged 7 to 13 has also been developed, poster available from Football NSW . There are 7 exercises, with progressive level of difficulty for each exercise from left to right across the poster. The coach should only progress the team to the next level of difficulty once the exercise can be completed with little to no corrections required.
